The relationship between math curriculum and professional development has ebbed and flowed. At the extremes, curricula has taken center stage, and associated professional development has played a minor role. However, with the rise of standards and the emphasis on communication and problem solving, this relationship has flipped. Teacher content knowledge and how to teach that content has become the emphasis.
