HOW IS THE TRAINING ORGANIZED?

The TOT will include a review of program components, program sections, assessment framework, implementation options, and online resources. Participants will examine the teacher training sequence and demonstrate understanding of the one- and two-day model.

Training outcomes for the TOT are:

  1. Demonstrate ability to model instructional strategies taken from the teacher training
  2. Articulate how to sequence instruction by using unit maps
  3. Articulate how to assess student progress and identify strategies to support student needs
  4. Apply effective coaching skills to troubleshoot common challenges that impact implementations

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This session is designed for staff developers, math specialists, teachers, and district leaders who have taught and/or supervised Vmath and who are designated to train staff in their schools or districts. Space is limited to 25 participants.

Attendees must meet these criteria:

  1. Have attended an initial training session prior to the TOT session
  2. Experience in teaching and/or supervising the program (previous edition acceptable)
  3. Knowledge of national writing standards
  4. A bachelor’s degree with at least three years classroom experience
  5. Ability to effectively present content to adults

WHAT SHOULD PARTICIPANTS BRING?

Participants must bring a laptop computer, a Teacher’s Edition, and Assessment and Implementation Guide for any of the grade bands. Attendees will be provided with a Vmath Third Edition training binder with presentation notes and agendas, as well as electronic copies of training materials.
