Partnership Between Voyager Sopris Learning, WeAreTeachers Emphasizes Literacy
DALLAS, Aug. 9, 2018 — Voyager Sopris Learning today announced the launch of a social movement designed to embolden educators and students to effect change and to believe in the power of literacy. Called “#IAmMore,” the movement gives educators and students a voice, allows them to illustrate what makes them “more,” and to share their untapped potential. As part of the movement’s launch, Voyager Sopris Learning is partnering with
A component of the movement is a contest that gives educators a chance to win a $1,000 grand prize for their classroom, as well as other exciting prizes. Educators will print posters and distribute them to students who will answer the prompt, “I am more than … ”. Participants are then asked to take a photo or video with their poster and upload it to Instagram or Twitter with #IAmMore, tagging @WeAreTeachers, or they can upload it directly to the
contest website. Entrants’ photos will become part of the #IAmMore gallery, from which the winner and 25 runners-up will be chosen.
In addition to the grand prize, the runners-up will receive a bundle of classroom goodies, including an Instax camera and film, art supplies, and more. The contest ends Oct. 31 with winners to be announced by Nov. 9.
“This movement is an opportunity for administrators and teachers to show how their students have a voice and can be seen for their potential,” said Aaron Ingold, president, Voyager Sopris Learning. “A great way to reinforce this message is to encourage students to share what makes them more than an athlete, a shy student, or a struggling reader.”
Ingold emphasized the company’s commitment to teachers and why they are critical to the movement. “Teachers are essential to helping all students learn and reach their full potential; a teacher’s influence can impact a student’s life for years to come,” he said. “We want to celebrate what’s more in each of them.
