Deborah Glaser, Ed.D., is an educational consultant and trainer based in Boise, Idaho. She brings 28 years of teaching experience to her current work with schools, teachers, and reading program development. Deb wrote the Comprehensive Literacy Plan on which Idaho’s Reading Initiative (1999) was based and has trained thousands of teachers around the country in the foundations of learning to read and how to teach reading effectively so that all children learn to read. She is a national trainer for Louisa Moats’ Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) and Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS). Deborah’s ParaReading training guide was developed to assist with filling the need for qualified tutors who understand the underlying reading skills young children need and how to teach them! Her professional interests include building professional learning communities through collaboration with a focus on improving reading skills for all children and evaluating professional development in ways that reflect teacher learning and student achievement.
